The most unique aspect of tourism in Kochi that cannot be found anywhere else is the amazing Cochin carnival in Kochi that takes place in the aesthetically beautiful area of Fort Kochi every year in the last week of December. There are a lot of other reasons to visit Kochi, such as the scenic beaches, wonderful activities and beautiful architecture around the town. However, these are all things that tourists can find elsewhere as well, but the carnival promises to be ultimate fun. Promoted by the district tourism promotion council, the Cochin carnival is an exemplification of the festive spirit and cheer of the people in this part of the world. A holdover from the colonial times, the Cochin carnival is a blend of cultures from Portuguese to Punjabi to the local Malayali with some aspects of Dutch culture sprinkled in as well. The carnival of Kochi is a true testament to the diversity and culture present in even the smallest pocket of India and a must experience for those travelling through the country at this time.

The Cochin carnival has a number of attractions in the shape of events and competitions. Some of the competitions included in the Cochin carnival schedule are beach football, beach bike race, kayaking, swimming, marathons and even boxing and wrestling. These give a wonderful edge to the festivities with some healthy competition spicing up the Kochi new year carnival. The main event of the carnival is the beautiful parade that is held on the last day with all sorts of dance forms and colorful displays on show. This is preceded throughout the week by similar displays and fairs over the course of the Cochin carnival. The message of the carnival is that of peace, prosperity and tranquility. All this is showcased through the cultural displays over the course of the event. All this and more makes the Cochin carnival one of the must visit events for anybody planning a trip to the wonderful state of Kerala.

The travel agent hides few things while sharing itinerary. Also provided a very old houseboat which was very dirty. The badsheet had a dirty smell (changed in night). Few hairs were found in the rice. Overall a very very good 3 days were spoiled on 4th day at the houseboat. A very low quality cake w

as provided as honeymoon inclusion. No fruit basket was there as mentioned in the itinerary. Several places were not covered, driver said these were optional, but didn't mentioned in itinerary. Stay at Munnar and thekkedy was awesome.
